ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SPORTS IN DAILY LIFE
Considering its healing effects on mental health, it is of high importance for the current social situation
(Ciddi & Yazgan, 2020). In addition, the masses, who walk less and less distances and start to participate
less in out-of-home activities, are drifting towards a sedentary life and a sedentary life becomes a habit.
The habit of sedentary life has emerged as an important public health problem, the lifestyle, the
technology used in this period, and the change in socio-cultural structure have made humanity do less
physical activity (Bozkuş et al., 2013; Özkan et al., 2013; Türkmen et al., 2013; Türkmen et al., 2015; Özkan,
2015). In this context, displaying healthy lifestyle behaviors has gained importance.
For a healthy lifestyle, health needs to be improved. For this, people should pay attention to their own
health, smoking, alcohol and substance use, nutritional behaviors, physical activity, violent behaviors,
sexual behaviors, self-actualization, health responsibility, exercise, nutrition, interpersonal support,
unhealthy weight control, communication problems with family. and avoidance of risky behaviors such as
stress management (Çimen, 2003; Özkan et al., 2013). The individual who transforms these behaviors into
an attitude can maintain the state of being healthy, as well as bring the state of health to a better level.
Health behavior is considered as the whole of the behaviors that the individual believes and practices in
order to stay healthy and to be protected from diseases (Yalçınkaya et al., 2007). A healthy lifestyle is
defined as the individual's controlling all behaviors that may affect his health, and regulating his daily
activities by choosing behaviors that are appropriate for his/her own health status (Esin, 1997). Therefore,
due to the close relationship between activity levels and health, it is considered very important to
determine the amount and intensity of physical activities of daily living and healthy lifestyle behaviors.
Adapting these behaviors to people's lives is an important process in terms of creating a healthy future as
well as increasing the quality of life. In the light of these statements, it has been frequently emphasized in
studies that physical activity activities to be done at home in order to strengthen immunity and improve
the current situation will contribute positively to both physical and psychological lives of people. Making
exercise programs planned by considering personal characteristics a part of life will provide holistic effects
that will protect and improve health in all aspects (Arslan & Ercan, 2020). However, within the scope of
social isolation measures, it is seen that the physical activity levels of individuals have decreased
significantly. It is obvious that the COVID-19 epidemic negatively affects human life and limits people's
mobility and space. The COVID-19 epidemic is dragging human health into more and more serious dangers
day by day. These dangers are such that they can end people's lives. Individuals need to increase their
participation in physical activities in order to strengthen their immune system and support their physical
and psychological well-being (Hüseyin et al., 2020).
